About the Photographer

Welcome to A.Staats Photography! I am Amanda, owner and photographer of A.Staats Photography. I was born and raised in Wamego, KS. I am a wife to my high school sweetheart, Tj. We recently bought a house and have adopted 3 furbabies. I graduated from Kansas State University in May 2011 with a degree in Finance from the College of Business Administration. I work at the Bennington State Bank in Wamego and photography is my fun side job.

Why photography? I love people and working with people. Photography is a great way to meet new people as well as interact with people that I already know. I didn’t start out loving photography as a child in 4-H. It was a struggle before the fair each year to shoot the WHOLE roll of film (24 exposures). The digital world of photography really changed my love for taking pictures. I love the instant gratification of seeing the pictures right away. I was enrolled in 4-H photography for 12 years with mainly animals, flowers and landscapes for my subjects. In April 2009, I attended my first photography workshop. The workshop focused on taking pictures of an engaged couple. This was my first experience taking pictures for people and I learned so much, but most of all fell in love with taking pictures of people. I shot my first wedding November 7, 2009 and since then I have shot more than 100 sessions and 20 weddings. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported and helped me in my photography journey.
